Adjective and Preposition Combination

What are adjectives and prepositions? 

Do you know how to use adjectives with prepositions like good at or interested in? Some adjectives need a preposition before their object. There are no rules, you try to learn them together. 

For example, 

I am interested in physics.

I am good at repairing things.

* A preposition is followed by a noun or a gerund(-ing form).

Here are the lists of adjectives that take specific prepositions:

Adjective + at  

I am good at drawing.

Tom is brilliant at basketball.

Adjective + about 

Sue is angry about the decision.

Tom is excited about the proposal.

Adjective + of

I am afraid of dogs.

Adjective + in :

I am interested in literature.

Adjective + for

Shakespeare is famous for his plays.

Adjective + to

I am accustomed to cold weather.

Adjective + with

I am fed up with my job. 

Adjective + on

I was not keen on going to the party.
